Pietravairano is located in the Italian state of Campania, in the Caserta province. Like many communes dating back to feudal times in Italy, it is built around a castle and has many historic buildings.

Almost all Del Sesto families that emigrated from Italy come from this town. To this day, members of the Del Sesto family live in the town and serve on the council.

Per the 2001 census, Del Sesto is the most popular surname in the town. 112 (3.7%) of the inhabitants of Pietravairano have the surname of Del Sesto.

Our branch of the Del Sesto family arrived in the United States 1895-1905. The photo on the left shows the entire family in Providence, Rhode Island, USA in 1933. Seated in the center is Antonio Del Sesto. Having 13 children, many DelSesto in the USA are his descendants.
